Living things display a broad range of characteristics that distinguish them as being part of a class. While there are several classes, most commonly animals fall into the following; mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and arthropods. Once students have gained an appreciation of these classes, this lesson entails a project that requires pupils to merge a depiction of combinations of two unlike animals from different classes. They will present their new alien creations to their peers and have their classmates classify them according to their individual understanding of the aliens creations.
