Expressions of interesting transcripts of genes in our ionbeam-induced semidwarf and spindly mutants were found to be
correlated with the genes OsSPY and 14-3-3, respectively. The
semidwarf phenotypes of the two semidwarf mutants could be due
to the higher OsSPY expression. The spindly appearance ofthe taller
mutant with the increase of around 20% in culm length could result
from the overexpression of the gene encoding the 14-3-3 protein.
The modified gene expression profiles in the two mutated Thai jasmine rice varieties both correlatewellwith our growing knowledge
about rice functional genomics.
