Amphotericin B
The polyene macrolide class of antifungal agents comprises the tetraenes
(amphotericin A, natamycin and nystatin), the heptaenes (amphotericin B, candicidin,
hachimycin, and hamycin), and the pentaenes (pentamycin) [3].
Amphotericin B is a macrocyclic, polyene antibiotic produced by Streptomycetes
nodusus (M4-575). It was originally isolated form a soil culture from the Orinoco River
region, Venezuela [4]
