Reference to your email dated 29/12/2015 regarding a passenger complaint on flight XJ606/13DEC2015, and request to pay compensation of THB 6,000 as claimed by the passenger.
Our investigation revealed as follows:
The passenger showed up for check-in without any check baggage. She had 1 carry-on baggage weighing 8 kilos. The staff informed her that no excess baggage weight would be charged to her. In addition to this, in order to meet with safety rules and regulations, no sharp items could be carried onto the aircraft. If the passenger wanted to check her carry-on baggage, an excess baggage charges would be applied since she had not pre-paid for the check baggage.
Our staff checked with the Airport Authority after receiving a complaint and was informed that 25 knives had not been intercepted at the checkpoint on 13 December 2015. If the passenger was asked to surrender knives at the checkpoint and leave them behind, the passenger should have contacted our staff at the check-in counter or at the boarding gate so that our staff could assist her to deal with the Airport Authority to sort out her problem at the time.
As you can see from the above, our staff had given clear explanation to the passenger, thus, we very much regret to inform you that we will not be able to comply with your request to pay for any compensation.
We hope that the above will be helpful in dealing with this matter.
