The need for grass/legume pastures to support a viable livestock production in Ghana was strongly emphasized during the First Grassland Symposium organized by the Ministry of Agriculture in 1960. The difficulties encountered in Ghana as reported by Evans (1960) were the selection of suitable local or exotic legume species which could grow in suitable combinations with selected grass species to produce high yielding grass/legume pasture. The aim of the present investigation was to carry out a more systematic experimentation into
