2.1. Chemicals and reagents
ZEA standards were supplied by Sigma–Aldrich (St. Louis, MO,
USA). Solvents for HPLC analysis were of chromatographic grade,
purchased from Fisher Scientific (France). De Man Rogosa Sharpe
(MRS) medium (Criterion, USA) was used for lactic acid bacteria
culture and ZEA detoxification experiments. Deionized water from
a Millipore Milli-Q-P Plus system was used for preparing aqueous
solutions and HPLC analysis. The stock solution (0.1 mg/mL) of ZEA
standard was prepared in methanol and stored at −20 °C when not
in use.
