When the sandstorm ended, no sign of the course could be seen. Prosperi wasn't able to find any sign of other racers of the race course. He was hopelessly lost in the middle of the vast desert. What was he going to do?. The real danger was the lock of water. He had only a little water left in his bottle. He decided to walk to try to find the way back to the course and the racers. So he set off. He had walked for three day when he came across a small shrine. There he rested and saw two small bats. He was able to kill the bats and drink their blood for the liquid he desperately
The thirst and heat were unbearable, and Prosperi was sure that he was going to die. He was giving up hope. He used some charcoal he had found to write a last note to his wife.
but he decided to continue on. He could see a mountain range, about 40 kilometres in the distance, and he walked on toward it. Five day later, he came across a group of nomads, and he was saved. The nomads took Prosperi on a camel to a village nearby. Prosper had walked all the way to Algeria, far from the course.He had lost a lot of weight, and he had damaged his health . But he had survived.
since then, he has returned to Africa to run again in the marathon. But fortunately during these races, there were no sandstorms,and he was able to stay on the course! He hasn't let the Sahara defeat him.
