The Shaolin style of gongfu (kungfu) or wushu is the oldest variety of martial arts practiced in China.
Shaolin gongfu involves (1) learning basic physical skills, (2) practicing meditation and disciplinary exercises (involving the management of internal energy or qi), and (3) training in combat.
There are many kinds of Shaolin gongfu. The word “gongfu” means a skill, and “wushu” means martial art.
This training is combined with essential Buddhist studies.
