Heip Yourself
to turn somethingdown - to say that yiu don't want what someone giving you
Remember that foreigners like to "help themselves." they don't like you to put more food onto their plates, and they won't do it for you. this doesn't mean that they don't want you to eat the food. They may say "Try the cake. it's delicious," or "Would you like some more potatoes?" They will expect you to help yourself to whatever food you want.
If you are full,or if you don't like the food that your hosts offer you, you may turn it down by saying "No, thank you." It will not offend your if you say this However, it is polite to try at least a taste of all the food that's on the table.
Who Pays
to divide - to sep separate an amount into equal parts, to share equally
to treat - to pay the full amount,to buy food for your friends
if a group of people goes to eat in a restaurant, it is not always clear who is going to pay for the meal. In most cases, each person shares the amount; for example, Fred pays only for the food he ate, and Mary pays only for what she ate. Sometimes they just divide the total amount between them.
often one person will want to pay the whole amount, as a way of being generous to his friends. in this case he will usually say "My treat," which means that he will pay for everybody. In order to make it clear who will pay, most people talk about it before the meal begins. They will decide whether one person will treat the others, or whether they will all share the amount.
