The practice guidelines have addressed a gap in the literature
by describing nursing management in accordance
with the currently available evidence-based medical
guidelines for risk identification, prevention, and treatment
of TLS. Pediatric oncology nurses are at the front
line of treatment and serve vital roles in early recognition
of pediatric oncology patients who are at risk for TLS.
These nurses play primary roles in the implementation of
timely, effective prophylactic interventions for the prevention
of TLS, or the reduction of its severity and lifethreatening
complications.
