“Pretty hurts. We shine the light on whatever's worst. Perfection is a disease of a nation.”
The fantastic lyrics above are from one of my forever favorite tracks, Beyoncé’s “Pretty Hurts.” Beyoncé tries to give millions of listeners a message about social and cultural norms of beauty ideal throughout her soulful song.
What I got from the pop star‘s song is that no matter how fat or skinny I am, I should proud to be myself. Not having the perfect body doesn’t mean I am not beautiful, because the true beauty of a person needs to shine from the inside out.
I thank her for inspiring me to be confident in myself.
