Various stakeholders, including policy makers, farmers, and other
involved public groups, need to have information on the performance and behaviour of the
system, the driving forces involved, and likely future outcomes in response to potential
changes in policies and other driving forces such as consumption practices. If people have
a clear understanding of the links between choices and consequences, they are more likely
to make informed and sustainable choices. Decision support tools and techniques can
assist a wide range of users in making these informed decisions based on sound technical
information, while also increasing public involvement in the process.
