13. Pipe maker Tenaris inaugurates Songkhla service centre for Chevron
TENARIS, a global manufacturer and supplier of steel pipe products, has invested in a state-of-the-art service centre to serve Chevron, a major producer of natural gas and crude oil in Thailand.
From Songkhla, Tenaris will supply major OCTG (oil-country tubular goods) and Rig Direct services. Tenaris will provide 80,000 tonnes of chrome and carbon casing and tubing, along with TenarisHydril premium connections.
The service centre celebrated the inauguration of its first service in Thailand yesterday in the presence of Eakarat Lheesen, vice governor of Songkhla, Paolo Rocca, Tenaris chairman and chief executive officer, and Brad Middleton, Chevron Asia South managing director.
Rig Direct is Tenaris' new service model that it says makes oil and gas operations more efficient by bringing quality and expertise directly to the rig site, applying the highest standards of health, safety and environment.
As part of this service model, the Songkhla service centre will provide complete pipe-management services, including demand planning and inventory management, preparation for running offshore, PipeTracer pipe by pipe identification, and net invoicing. These services are expected to help Chevron improve operation reliability and efficiency while reducing the total cost of operation.
Rocca said this was a unique service centre with new technologies allowing every pipe to be identified and traced and with the first priority of health, safety and environment from yard design to operation.
