In this study, particles were sampled during both, sugarcane harvest and no-harvest seasons in Chiapas
and Morelos. PM10 and PM2.5 concentration measurements showed that
during the harvest period these pollutants increase their concentrations.
The PM2.5/PM10 ratio of PAHs exhibited a high value of 0.7 showing that
most of particles are in the fine fraction. During harvesting, individual
PAH concentrations increased up to 6 times their levels, the carcinogenic
PAHs accounted for around 52% of the total measured PAHs, and carcinogenic
andmutagenic potential increased up to 4 times.
