In a study by Sharifi et al. (2007), the symptom of severe
depression in women with civil servant husbands was less
than those with husbands in other occupations, which is inline with the findings of this study. It is possible that people
with this type of job compared with manual workers and
the self-employed are more highly educated and are more
sensitive to the needs of their spouse and provide more support
(especially emotional supports) for them, which lead
to women having higher self-esteem, making them more
resistant to PPD (Sharifi et al. 2007).
