2001). To obtain a measure of semantic fluency from the
FOME, a composite score of the timed recalls of several
categories (i.e., foods, names, vegetables) was used. The
composite score was identified as the rapid verbal retrieval
(RVR) score. The cutoff scores for the RVR test
were set at ≤17 for men and ≤31 women, 1 SD from the
mean of gender-based norms for community residents reported
by Fuld (1982).
