My future Aspiration”
November10, 2003 was the date I landed in the United States of America. Since then, it has been my dream to get an education in this wonderful country. I say that because in my native Thailand the United States is viewed as a very strong and envied Country. I know that continuing my education and getting my degree in this country would be well respected and an honor for me, in addition to fulfilling my dreams. When I first came to America I knew I had to start somewhere. I began in the fall of 2006 by taking an ESL class which after studying very hard, I completed successfully. I wanted to choose a career path in which I felt I could help people, and continue to help people wherever it was that I might find myself living throughout life. I knew that something in the medical field is what I needed to do. I chose to study to become a surgical technician, knowing that I could assist surgeons in helping them be a greater success in the operating room, would in turn help the patient out as well.
While attending college, I have been working as a waitress in a few different Thai restaurants in the greater Hartford area. I am finding it very difficult to balance the two, and I am afraid that my need to work will affect my studies. Moreover, it keeps me from exceeding to the level I want to be at. I have been able up to this time to maintain a GPA of 3.55; I was able to receive a student loan here and there to assist me, and was able to schedule my working life outside of my studies. As my educational process is beginning to ramp up and my studies requiring more and more of my time, I am finding it very difficult to maintain my GPA and a job.
All these reasons bring me to my request for a scholarship. With a scholarship I can attend my classes and dedicate more of my time to my studies rather than worrying about spending long hours a day for little pay to be able to support my education. I want to be a strong surgical technician and be the best I can be, not to be limited on my achievements by outside factors as having to waitress as well. I want to aspire to this level, not only for my own self worth, but to also be able to be in a position to continue working in my field all over the country if needed, and maybe in different parts of the world also. I would love to be able to assist surgeons in disaster stricken areas as well as poor third world countries, and maybe one day also teach English.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your time in reviewing my request for a scholarship at this time, and hope that my hopes and dreams will come true. I always heard that the United States was and is the land of opportunity, and I am seeing that more and more every day. When a hard working woman, and mother can have the opportunity to achieve a great career by setting my mind to it and working hard at my dreams and goal
