The purpose of this descriptive research was to study relationships among personal factors of
professional nurses, transformational leadership of head nurses and nursing quality assurance performance of
professional nurses in community hospitals, Chaiyaphum province. The sample was 145 professional nurses
who had working experience at least 1 year. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisted of three
parts: personal data of professional nurses, transformational leadership of head nurses and nursing quality
assurance performance of professional nurses. Five experts examined the content validity of the questionnaire.
The reliability coefficients of the parts of transformational leadership of head nurses and nursing quality assurance
of professional nurses were 0.98 and 0.96, estimated by Cronbach’s alpha coefficients. The data were
analyzed by using Chi-Square test, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple
regression analysis.
The findings showed that: 1) Education, nursing quality assurance training and work experience did
not have Significant correlations with nursing quality assurance performance of professional nurses. 2) The
transformational leadership of head nurses had a statistically significant moderate positive correlation with the
nursing quality assurance performance of professional nurses (r = .456, p < 0.01). 3) The factors could significantly
predicted and explained for 24.3%(R2 = .243, p < 0.05) of the nursing quality assurance performance of
professional nurses were transformational leadership and work experience.
