Another important finding of the present study was that cryopreserved
sperm treated with 1.0 mg and 1.5 mg C-LC provided a
better result in term of fertilization rate when compared to
2.5 mg and 3.0 mg CLC and also control groups. Similarly, Purdy
and Graham [26] is noted that sperm cryopreserved in the CLCbased
extender were capable of fertilization at the same rate as
sperm frozen in the conventional egg-yolk-based extender.
Although there were no reports about CLC based extenders regarding
fertilization results on fish sperm cryopreservation, the beneficial
effects of CLC appears to be species specific as increased
fertilization rates have been observed in bull [26], stallion [30]
and boar [32] sperm.
