Last night’s episode of the Comedy Central internet quiz show @midnight had a hilarious lineup featuring The Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman, Lauren Cohan (Maggie) and Josh McDermitt (Eugene). Many funny, off-color jokes were made by the cast and host Chris Hardwick. And Kirkman might have spoiled how Glenn dies.
In a segment where the cast members were asked to give “fake” spoilers about the show, Kirkman and the other threw out obviously fake and funny spoilers, like “Maggie and Eugene both die in the next episode” and “Beth comes back as a dog that can solve crimes.” But then Kirkman dropped a bomb.
“Eventually a character named Negan is introduced. He’s going to bash in Glenn’s brains with a baseball bat called Lucille,” Kirkman said, in a deadpan tone.
Of course, this is exactly what happens to Glenn in the comic book.
When the crowd reacted with shock Kirkman yelled “It’s a comedy show!”
So, is this a real spoiler? Or an anti-spoiler because it was set in a segment about fake spoilers on a comedy show? Does it mean that Glenn won’t be Negan’s victim? If so, why does Glenn keep encountering baseball bats as if foreshadowing his fate, as he did in the season premiere and in Sunday’s mid-season premiere?
We’re very, very confused. What do you think?
