Comcare expects compliance with federal laws and encourages conformance with best practice. Behaviours are important to us and occasionally it will be necessary to take stronger directive or enforcement action to ensure compliance.
There is a range of enforcement actions that may be applied by Comcare when WHS legislative obligations are not met. Persons conducting a business or undertaking, officers, workers and other parties who have duties under the WHS Act are subject to the compliance, enforcement and penalty provisions of the WHS Act.
Comcare receives a significant number of health and safety event notifications and allegations of unsafe workplaces every year. Resources available for regulatory intervention are identified by using an intelligence assessment process, then deciding whether to intervene.
