Another crucial factor is the possibility to study at their
own pace. There is nothing more frustrating than if a
student works in a faster pace than the rest in the class.
For the teacher, it is an awkward situation of having to
‘wait’ for the all the students, as he cannot cue to the pace
of the class to the fastest of his students. For the fast
student it is demotivating, leaving them with a feeling that
the class does not fulfill their needs. For the slow student,
it brings a constant underlying feeling of inadequacy, of
being not “good” enough if they are not as fast as the
others. E-learning provides a fine solution to this problem,
as the student is free to work in their own time and pace,
“fly through” the material that is easier for them to
comprehend and spending more time with other parts of
the learning material that they do not grasp as readily.
