where Rth is the thermal resistance, Tj the junction temperature, Ta the ambient temperature, P power, and DT the junction temperature rise. At a specific input power, the junction temperature of package was reached into saturation.
Under AC driven, the input power was changed periodically.The LED package was driven under AC operation with different frequency and the input power was measured with oscilloscope (Tektronix, TDS 5054). The reverse half-wave in AC driving was controlled by the booster switch. The booster switch was connected AC LED with thermal transient tester. The extracted powers from oscilloscope were used as the input power for thermal simulation.Transient thermal method was used for measuring junction temperature and calculating thermal resistance [12]. It is an electrical method which uses the linear relationship of forward voltage of LED with junction temperature. The set-up for measuring junction temperature of LED package was schematically shown in Fig. 1.
