Working individually, students are assigned to write a first draft for homework, which is due in several days. They are encouraged to use a computer and word processing software. If they do not have their own equipment, computer facilities are available in the school's library.
Students exchange the first draft of their stories with group members. At this conferencing stage, students critically and constructively analyze each other's work. Their peers help them identify the unintended ambiguities of their stories Using the advice from teacher and peers, students work individually to revise and edit their work. During the writing andrevising stages, the language arts teachers co-plan assignments that support these activities.
