These are some of the more frequent questions about behaviour that we are asked on our Autism Helpline. Not all of the examples will apply to the person with autism you know, but you may find some of the strategies useful to adapt to other situations.
You will find these questions and answers in the 'In this section' drop down menu.
This is by no means an exhaustive list of solutions. Every situation and person is unique and you may have found other solutions to similar situations, which is why keeping a behaviour diary can be useful for examining an individual situation.
If there is a difficulty you are having at the moment which you do not find covered here, please contact the Autism Helpline on 0808 800 4104.
In the following answers, the term ‘autism’ covers autism, Asperger syndrome and other diagnostic terms used for autism spectrum conditions.
