If you are asked to list some places you love most, I bet most of you will mention your high schools. The time we spend in our high schools is thought to be the happiest stage of life. I do think so. I can count the days I was there but I cannot count the peaceful memories I had. No matter far I go, I still bear in mind the images of my beloved high school, especially the most beautiful yard I’ve ever seen.
My school is one of the biggest schools in Ho Chi Minh City, located in the center of Tan Binh district. It covers a large area with 4 blocks and a wide school yard. My school has three gates, each of which leads to different roads. Entering the main gate, you will find a yellow U-shaped two-storey classroom block. Keep walking forward, you’ll catch sight of a white building behind a big green tree which includes a very huge library, teachers’ room and a hall where seminars and events are held. Behind this lies a modern sports house which has been built recently. The workplace of Heads of the school is opposite teachers’ room. There are bushes around this area and in front of it stands the memorial of a famous poet whom my school was named after. From the hall, we can have a panoramic view to which I’ve always been attracted. I love the yellow of the classroom blocks as well as the walls surrounding my school. It makes the school brighter in sunshine and brings an ancient feeling.
However, it must be a deficiency if I don’t mention the most beautiful spot - the yard. On the first day I came here, I was impressed by the width, the beauty of it. The school yard is divided into two parts by a small path which connects the canteen and teacher’s room. There are many trees in the yard, some of them have been living for more than 30 years, decorating this yard and providing shade for lots of generations of students. The big trees look like huge green umbrellas from afar with colorful bunches of flower on them. Every time a wind goes through the umbrellas, a rain of small leaves pours down onto the white aodai of girl students who are busy collecting some flowers. One special tree that I’ll never forget is called “Yellow Scorpion” which doesn’t have green leaves. All the leaves and flowers are yellow. This tree is quite small but its color brightens up the whole school yard along with other green trees. In the corner of the yard lies a small flower garden which I really like. Although it is small, it has many kinds of wild orchid in purple, pink, yellow, white and so on. Yet, the most significant mark of the garden is bunches of banana flowers hanging by its tree. The red flowers are just like fire burning in the corner. Sometimes when I was sad, I went to that garden to watch kittens catching the butterflies and beautiful flowers, it made me feel relaxed. There are also plenty of benches along the path and beside each tree, which are never empty every recess. On some benches, my close friends and I had a good time together, we chatted and laughed, shared food, reviewed lessons and even argued. We were so happy to be there, under the shade of the trees, to enjoy the beautiful view of the yard and to recognize a landscape right in my school.
It’s been two years since I graduated from high school but every time I come back and sit on a bench with my friends, I still have the same feeling as the old days. Looking at the trees, the small garden, I wish I had more chances to spend my time at school. Though I have to grow up and fly away, I’ll always remember my beloved school and its yard.
