Creating a good title for a research paper does not usually receive attention, but for many TREEs it can be a challenge. The title of a research paper is important because it creates the first impression of a paper. People may decide to read or not read a paper simply by the title. If you send your manuscript to a journal, your title may determine to whom the journal editor assigns it for review. The APA Publication Manual recommends titles be 10 to 12 words long (APA, 2010, p. 23).
