3.2. Influence of operating variables on biodiesel purity
The alcoholysis of vegetable oils is a three-step reversible reaction
where DG and MG are intermediate products. According to the
biodiesel standard EN 14214, the MG content should be lower than
0.8 wt.%, diglycerides and triglycerides contents each lower
than 0.2 wt.%. In addition, the ester content should be higher than
96.5 wt.%.
