The problem definition consists of two parts: The preliminary definition of the
problem – this is often part of the initial project brief/assignment – and the more
detailed structuring and ‘dissection’ of the problem, sub-problems and relevant
aspects. This second part is best done with the help of tools such as Problem tree
(chapter 3.1.2), Hypothesis tree (chapter 3.1.5) and Issue tree (chapter 3.1.7).
