1. Introduction
Vitamin A is also known as retinol, is one of the fat soluble vitamins
(TimandPerry, 1992)playing animportant role invisual cycle,
cellular growth and differentiation (Rune et al., 1992). Vitamin A is
regarded as an important micro nutrient in mammalian diet and it
is delivered to tissues in the formof retinol.VitaminAexists in three
forms; retinal, retinol and retinoic acid, among which retinoic acid
(RA) is the active metabolite of vitamin A, works as a good antioxidative
agent as it neutralizes the free radicals (Barbara et al., 2009).
According to the earlier reports (Ross et al., 2000; Maden, 2007),
RA is the key molecule during embryonic and post natal development
of the central nervous system (CNS). Recent reports on
mammalian system suggested that RA works as a regulator of biological
rhythms in adult CNS, neuronal plasticity (McCaffery et al.,
2006; Chen et al., 2012), neurogenesis in both the hippocampus
(Goodman et al., 2012) and hypothalamus (Shearer et al., 2010).
