(y/n) wasn't expecting people to be so rude. They weren't just glaring and murmuring about Velvet. They were angry with him for eating lunch with a Faunus. He had a little trouble ignoring it. He knew he shouldn't care, but what if someone attacked them?
"You don't really have to do this," Velvet murmured. "I don't want to give you trouble."
"Don't worry about it," (y/n) told her with a smile. "We'll be fine."
"I just..."
(y/n) leaned over and kissed her on the cheek. "It's funny to see them get mad at stupid things like this."
"It's scary..."
"Just ignore them," (y/n) told her. "It'll be fine. Not everyone is as immature as Cardin and his goons."
"I should have brought a hat..."
"Don't say that." (y/n) scoots his chair closer to her and nervously leans closer. "For once, don't worry about what anyone thinks of you, ok?"
"That's a little hard..."
"How can I make it easier?" (y/n) asked her sincerely.
"We...could go somewhere more private?" Velvet murmured as she cringed at another glare.
"Let's go to the park then," (y/n) suggested as he paid their bill. "There will still be people, but we an sit behind a tree or something. Maybe no one will see us."
Velvet agreed. The two left the restaurant quickly. (y/n) wanted to hold her hand, but was far too nervous. He would have to gain confidence later on.
They stay in the shade of a tree in the park. Velvet was nervously watching for anyone who would spot her. (y/n) was preoccupied by figuring out how to at least kiss her before the date was over.
"Oh no..." Velvet whispered as she looked across the park.
(y/n)'s (e/c) gaze followed her path of vision and spotted what she was worried about. CRDL. The entire team was in the park as though they were hunting Velvet down. "We're not gonna let them ruin anything, ok?" He told Velvet as he grabbed her hand. He dragged her farther away from her bullies an they ended up running along a river.
"Where are we going?" she asked (y/n) quietly.
"Dunno," he replied with a bright smile. "Does it matter? As long as we're away from those idiots, we can have a good time, right?"
"I guess..."
Velvet suddenly tripped and fell, dragging (y/n) down with her. He ended up on top of her, chuckling a bit at how cute her hair was when it spread around her ears like that.
"What're you laughing at?" she asked him quietly. She figured he was laughing at her just like everyone else.
(y/n) moved a lock of hair off of he face and smiled down at her. "Did you have a good day today? Did you have fun?"
"Y-yes."
That was the confidence boost that he needed. (y/n) leaned down slightly and pecked Velvet on the lips. He went for a second kiss, but this one lingered. "I had a great day. One of the best in a very long time. Let's do it again, ok?"
"I'd like that."
Velvet walked down the halls of Beacon, drawing more attention to herself than she normally would. This was only because her hand held tightly to (y/n)'s. He didn't mind the attention. But he did mind the looks Velvet was getting. He quickly pulled her close and kissed her ear before continuing down the hall. No one was going to bother her again just because she was Faunus.
