aradigm is a term used to describe a specific worldview. It includes the truths held by a discipline. All members of a discipline may hold to the same paradigm, or there may be conflicting paradigms. Thomas Kuhn (1970), a well-known scientist devoted thought and writing to the subject of paradigms and paradigm shifts. He proposed that a scientific discipline proceeds in a “normal” fashion, only confirming what is already thought to be known, until such time as an anomaly arises. This anomaly (observation that does not fit with previous thought) causes a scientific revolution and a paradigm shift. Nursing continues the debate about whether a single paradigm must be agreed upon or if multiple paradigms are acceptable. - See more at: http://www.elearnportal.com/courses/nursing/conceptual-approaches-to-nursing/conceptual-approaches-to-nursing-terminology-of-nursing-theory#sthash.FOmgVsUR.dpuf
