Some of the tea planter bungalow properties have been organized into a ‘tea trail’, pro- moted by the Dihmah Tea Company. As a product, this group of four tea planters’ bunga- lows is supported by a web site (http://www.teatrails.com/) indicating that they were restored by Dihmah with the Bogawantalawa Tea Estates, to ‘offer guests the unique experi- ence of life on a working tea estate’. In keeping with the heritage theme bungalow accom- modation rooms are named after former British tea planters, indicating that the operators recognize the heritage value of the properties. While the basic guided walks are included in the all-inclusive rate for bungalows, as a further product diversification the Tea Trails has an arrangement with Adventure Asia Ltd. for guide services for area excursions. Further linking the tea trails with the tea and plantation heritage of the region is the use of recreational facilities (tennis, snooker, pool, badminton, rugby, cricket and bar) at the nearby historic Darawella Planters’ Club.
