Third Quarter 2014 Progress Report
Time waits for no man, indeed, and how swiftly the days fly by, bringing us closer to the year’s end already. So here’s our report on the third quarter which ended September 30, 2014.
On Chevron projects, most of the ongoing work has progressed to Phases 47 and 48, whilst Phase 49 has been initiated.
On Phase 47, there are nine platforms and associated pipelines, inclusive of one (1) non-generic platform, which comprises four pre-installed risers and one pre-installed 8" receiver for gas list pipeline. Three of the four risers are non-standard (size 12", 8" and 6"). The engineering for the non-generic platform and other engineering deliverables as well as procurement, are almost complete while the fabrication is ongoing. Completion of the first platform under this phase is scheduled for first week of February 2015.
Phase 48 originally was comprised of nine platforms but later the scope was reduced to 5 platforms; one (1) of the five (5) is a mini hub in which a 24" export riser, three 16" pre-installed import risers and three 16" pre-installed receivers are included. The engineering, procurement and fabrication are ongoing. The first platform completion is planned for last week of June 2015.
The installation campaign for the platforms and pipelines of both Phases 47 and 48 will start around the third week of February next year. A bigger challenge for offshore in 2015 is the logistics support for long pipelines, such as the 29-km 12" line and the 20-km 24" line.
Judging from the workscope and volume, the year 2015 will likely prove one of the busiest for the company. But we are CUEL, and we will keep our sights on project delivery as a significant goal.
Future workload will continue to be robust, with nine platforms committed for Phases 49 and 50, with a possible increment to 12 platforms for Phase 50. Additionally, studies have been conducted to examine the yard potential for up to 24 platforms per year, with an average of 20 platforms per year from Phase 51 onwards.
Regarding work safety, CUEL is on a roll, celebrating a combined milestone achievement of 50 MMHrs for the whole company and 7 MMHrs without a single day’s absence from work for Offshore Installation. This is, by any and all accepted standards, a great and remarkable achievement, which should serve as a stepping stone for each and every one of us, as we continue with concentration and combined efforts to scale newer heights of glory.
