About Direct Printing onto a Custom Substrate
As I’ve mentioned various times in the book, you can either start with a custom substrate and then make your digital image, or start with your image and then make your substrate. This chapter will illustrate both processes. Each will use a carrier sheet (see Chapter 2) to support the hand-made substrate. For the first pro- cess, we’ll actually use two carrier sheets—one for assembly (a polypropylene slab), and a second one for imaging (a sheet of spunbonded polyester).
