THE OVERALL IMPROVEMENT COMES FROM THE SMOOTHNESS CONSTRAINTS WE IMPOSED ON THE ALGORITHM AND MINIMIZATION OF MV ERRORS THROUGH MULTISTAGE MV POST-PROCESSING. THE CCRM OF THE PROPOSED METHOD HAS AN AVERAGE PSNR DECREASE BY 0.04BB AND SSIM DECREASE BY 0.001. THE DEGRADATION IS NOT SIGNIFICANT OVERALL THANKS TO THE ALTERNATING FORWARD AND BACKWARD MVF RETIMING, WHICH PREVENTS THE PROPAGATION OF ACCUMULATIVE ERROR. HOWEVER, FOR SEQUENCES WITH COMPLEX MOTION SUCH AS PARIS AND STEFAN, THE CCRM IS INFERIOR OBVIOUSLY TO THE PROPOSED ORIGINAL METHOD BECAUSE OF THE ERRORS OF MVF RETIMING.
