The quality of life assessment of patients’ caregivers was performed using e Q 5 d descriptive system which consists of five dimensions as follows: mobility, self care,
usual activity, pain/discomfort and worry/depression.each dimension had three levels: no problems, some problems and severe problems. The respondents were asked to indicate his/her health state by ticking in the box against the most appropriate statement in each of the five
dimensions. This decision resulted in a 1-digit number expressing the level selected for that dimension. The digits for five dimensions were combined in a 5-digit number describing the respondent’s health state. Validation was done and reliability for use in Malaysia has been tested
(Mahadeva et al. 2008; van Agt et al. 1994).
