There are many examples of classroom use of performance assessment using simulated
settings. When teaching CPR, students typically use a special dummy rather than
practice their skills on people who are in life-threatening situations. In my college
educational psychology class, I have my students teach mini-lessons to some of the
other members of their class, even though the lessons are typically more appropriate for
elementary-aged or high school-aged students. Can you think of situations where you
completed a performance assessment in a simulated setting?
