There are several traditional rehabilitation tools such as
therapy pads, the Klein ball, trampoline, Castaing platform
and the Freeman platform, which is the tool most widely
used in clinical rehabilitation of the ankle for test of
maintaining stability in 3DOF [6], [7]. Freeman introduced
proprioceptive rehabilitation options by finding a link between weak posture and mechanoreceptors lying on the
ligaments of the ankle.
This work led to the design and realization of a 2DOF
platform for ankle sprain rehabilitation, which can
reproduce a 2DOF motion.
II. DESIGNS AND REALIZATION PLATFORM
The designed system to monitor is subdivided into three
parts: Mechanical platform, hardware (command and
control circuit) and software design framework developed
around the LABVIEW program. The different stages will
be explained in the following section.
A. Mechanical Platform Design and Realization
The system platform is realized with a circular support
for feet, fixed on a metal shaft containing in it extremity a
metal sphere working as a kneecap to provide a permanent
instability of the platform (Fig.1). The mechanical
platform design is realized by using a software program
‘Solid Works 2012’. Fig.2 shows the designed of
assembled system. After designed of the mechanical platform, we
proceeded to the realization. Fig.3 shows the first
prototype of the realization. On another, four motors
(MINEBEA/17PM-H302) have been used for 2DOF
motion control. Fig.4 shows the principle of assembled
motors.
