In the present study experiments
have been conducted with flies using
Salmonella enteritidis as the test organism
to determine the ability of flies
to infect other flies, the longevity of
the test organism in flies, the transmission
of Salmonella enteritidis from
infected flies to mice, and the ability
and extent to which uninfected flies
would become vectors of the test organism
when exposed to infected mice.
Some studies were also carried out on
the survival of Salmonella enteritidis
during metamorphosis from eggs to
adult flies.
