Digital games, which are one of the indispensible entertainment tools of today’s world, can be
associated with the inherent instinct of the humans to play games. Aristotle associates the act of playing
games with the impulse to imitate and states that “the impulse to imitate is inherent in man” (Aristotle,
cited by TunalÕ, 1983). Schiller emphasizes the importance of playing games for the human kind by
stating that a human being “is only fully a human being when he plays” and he also mentions the
impulse to play and believes that this impulse is inherent (Schiller, 1965).
