As assessed in RCTs, higher intakes of NSS resulted in a reduction in total energy intake of morethan 560 kJ per day (Fig. 28). Subgroup analysis indicates that energy intake is reduced when NSSare used to replace sugars (Fig. 29), but also in mixed-weight or overweight/obese individuals(Fig. 30), although the difference between subgroups in the latter is not statistically significantand there is considerable residual heterogeneity within most individual subgroups.
