Survey Site
The study took place in Anambra state, in southeastern
Nigeria. The state is urban and a major commercial hub
with a population of 4.5 million comprising of 21 local
government areas. After 6 years of primary/elementary
education, students proceed to secondary education, starting
with the junior secondary school levels (JSS 1-3) up to
senior secondary school levels (SSS 1-3). English is the
primary language of instruction in schools, and by the
secondary level all students can read and write in basic
English.
