The exercise
termination criteria were core body temperature (Tco)
>38.5◦C; HR >95% of predicted maximum HR; subject
report of lightheadedness, dizziness, or nausea;
and the judgment of the researchers that it was unsafe
to continue. Workload was adjusted slightly throughout
the protocol if the investigator felt that HR or
Tco was increasing to the extent that the participant
could not likely complete the protocol without reaching
a termination criterion. In all cases, the workload
was adjusted in both trials so that the workloads were
identical between trials
