Advice for a successful au pair year
Your LCC
Your LCC (Local Childcare Coordinator) is the Cultural Care representative in your host community to provide support for your and your host family equally.
Important tips on understanding your LCC's role:
Your LCC will be about an hour away from you and your host family by car.
Since local support is the best support, your LCC will be your main Cultural Care contact during your year unless you have more serious problems.
LCCs many times have a job apart from being an LCC so you may need to leave a message or email and they will get back to you.
You can find the contact information for your LCC anytime on your Online Account.
You can call your LCC whenever you need to but they will also contact you as follows:
A welcome call within 48 hours of your arrival to the host family
A welcome orientation within 2 weeks of your arrival to the host family
Monthly meetings with you and the other au pairs in the area (these are mandatory)
If at any time you need immediate assistance and can't reach your LCC, you can call our emergency line 24 hours a day at 1-800-333-6056 (free call)
A successful year is up to YOU. Be ready to stand on your own two feet. But if bigger problems come up, your LCC is there to get you help if you need it.
