evidence could be obtained that correlated the AE indications with the subsequent RT results, except for a few slag

to any defects that were below the subsequent RT resolution
limit. It is understood that the AE will detect the small
defects that are impossible to find by the normal NDE
techniques. Secondly, they could be related to any

which were not inspected by the subsequent RT because
of the geometrical complexity. Thirdly, they might be
produced by the sudden stress release due to local plastic
deformation of repaired welds, or fracture and decohesion
of small inclusions.
