Objective statements are often begun with the phrase "learners will be able to" (LWBAT)if a specific behavior, condition, and criterion can be added to the LWBAT, then a complete and precise objective will result. For example, where learners are expected to manage small discussion groups of learners, the following objective might be appropriate: "Learners will be able to demonstrate the ability to give directions for a role-playing activity to a group of learners in a training program so that at least 90% of the learners understand the directions the first time they are given." The terminal behavior is the ability to give directions to a group for a role play.
