It is used as dhal; to make curries; sweet and salty
soups; is broiled and toasted with onion, chili and salt; in
sweet and salt pongal (rice preparation); and patties and
sweets of different kinds [2, 3]. Because of its high protein
content, easy digestibility and being almost free from
flatulence-causing factors; it is preferred for feeding babies
and convalescents.
