F. The Background of the Series Television “Pretty Little Liars”
Pretty Little Liars is an American teen drama mystery–thriller television series loosely based on the popular book series of the same title, written by Sara Shepard. The show premiered on June 8, 2010 on ABC Family. After an initial order of 10 episodes, ABC Family ordered an additional 12 episodes for season one on June 28, 2010. These episodes began airing on January 3, 2011 and ended on March 21, 2011. The ratings success of the first 10 episodes prompted the book series to be extended beyond the initial eight novels.
As we mentioned above, Pretty Little Liars is an American teen television series that are popular in American teenagers due to the book series, “Pretty Little Liars” which is interested from American teenagers too. In the series, it is follows the lives of four girls, Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery, Hanna Marin, and Emily Fields, whose clique falls apart after the disappearance of their leader, Alison DiLaurentis. One year later, the estranged friends are reunited as they begin receiving messages from a mysterious figure named "A", who threatens to expose their deepest secrets, including ones they thought only Alison knew. This series includes life-style in routine life, American teenager social and culture of characters who are representatives of the American college students. Their communications involve slangs because it is commonly way to use slang in teenager’s life. Also, the use of slangs in Pretty Little Liars makes the audience understand inner of characters in this television series.
