Various MSW treatments using the hydrothermal principle
have been developed; however, only a few are designed to produce
solid fuel. Because of the high pressure and temperature requirements
or the need of a catalyst, only a few treatments are commercially
available . The aim of this study is to develop an
innovative hydrothermal treatment technology for converting high
moisture content solid wastes into dried, uniform, pulverized, coallike
solid fuel by using low energy consumption [14,15]. Subsequent
co-combustion research on the hydrothermally treated
MSW with coal showed that the devolatilization properties of coal
were improved, and for low-quality coal, such as high-ash Indian
coal, the ignition of the coal was enhanced by adding hydrothermally
treated MSW
